Majorette was also my favorite story in the collection, because I loved the parallel with her mother, as you mention, but also just how unassuming her life and story are. The smallest changes make the biggest difference.

About the men, I wondered if Groff wasn&#039;t handling them almost as fairy tale characters. I need to read the book again, I think, because I do believe she&#039;s layered these stories so exquisitely. I keep thinking, what did I miss?</description>
